Migration has been in existence from the beginning of time. People move from their countries of origin for reasons such as seeking for better financial opportunities, escaping from war, and reuniting with their families.
Some states may limit the rights of migrants, but according to the law and principle on migration, all human beings are entitled to the same human rights protection regardless of their race, origin, or status. Therefore, many individuals and organizations have come up to promote and protect the rights and interest of the migrants.
American civil liberties union-ACLU is an example of the organizations that protect the civil and human rights of migrants. This American group is dedicated to enforcing the civil liberties, rights of immigrants and scrutinizing private and public discrimination against them.
Using litigation and public outreach, ACLU protects the rights and liberties of immigrants. It has been at the front line of almost every major legal struggle on behalf of immigrants rights. They look at laws that deny immigrants to get to the courts and discriminate by race, color origin and nationality.
Immigrants’ soldiers Program-the Pentagon is a recruitment plan that was started in 2009 with the aim of helping non-citizen recruits acquire citizenship. These recruits were to have special skills like language and health that would help in the military. However, it is considering to scrap the program that used to enroll young women and men who have special abilities for United States national security. The program known as Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) allowed the immigrants to offer their services in the United States armed force and also apply if they had abilities such as special knowledge in medical training.The Lacey and Larkin fund has been following the issues and writing about them because immigrants are assets to the success and competence of the U.S Armed forces.

It is also one of the oldest advocate for immigrants rights in Los Angeles.
The Lacey and Larkin Frontera fund supports groups that advocate for civil, human rights, migrants rights, and freedom of speech throughout Arizona. The $3.75 million settlement from their arrest by a county sheriff by the name Joe Arpaio, was dedicated to assisting organizations that support human rights.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were arrested in the middle of the night on October 18, 2017, for unveiling the existence of grand jury proceedings involving this particular sheriff. The jury demanded the identity of persons who read the New Times stories online concerning him. Aware of their rights, they sued the county of Maricopa and won a settlement deal.
