Crime in New Brunswick, New Jersey

If you haven’t heard of New Brunswick, it’s a city in Middlesex County, in the state of New Jersey and it’s home to the famed Rutgers University. In 2012, New Brunswick also became synonymous with a barrage of armed robberies involving pizza delivery drivers. In 2013, Parysh Wood, a then 21-year-old, was charged with committing these crimes, most notably the robbery that occurred on November 30th, 2012. According to an article in newbrunswicktoday.com, Wood was charged with the November 30th robbery while he was already incarcerated for similar robberies throughout South Brunswick.

According to several news reports, Wood approached a pizza delivery driver, who was located in a parking lot and robbed him of his money, as well as his pizza. The reports, however, did not specify the amount of money stolen but indicated that the crime occurred around 9:30 in the evening. The New Brunswick police department was able to link Parysh to the robbery based on his cell phone records, which connected him with the crime. Due in large part to the diligent South Brunswick police department, the city can now breathe a collective sigh of relief, knowing that Parysh is off the streets.

In addition to the string of pizza delivery robberies, New Brunswick is also making headlines for a shooting that occurred at one of the city’s apartment communities, on October 7th, 2015. According to several reports, around 9:30 p.m several shots were fired inside of a New Brunswick apartment complex, located at 33 Commercial Ave and directly across from Rutgers University. One person was injured during the shooting and was transported to a nearby hospital. Information regarding the extent of the injury or their identity has not been disclosed; according to an article in newbrunswicktoday.com, the shooting is still being investigated. The police department did, however, reveal rudimentary information concerning the possible suspect; he was described as a male suspect wearing a hoodie running towards Nielsen Street, which intersects Commercial Ave.

If you’re considering visiting or moving to New Brunswick, you’re encouraged to keep your guard up; unfortunately, the city, which is also home to Rutgers University, has experienced a significant increase in crime in recent years. In fact, the crime rate in New Brunswick is 61% higher, when compared to crimes committed in other New Jersey cities, and is 1% higher than the national average. Additionally, the overall crime rate is said to be 78% higher than the national average.

Prison gangs may face major setback with the loss of unauthorized cell phones

The problem of prison gangs in the United States has plagued the country’s penal institutions since the late 19th century. Prison gangs have long posed a serious threat to the stability and safety of the prison system. With strict, paramilitary-like regimentation, the largest and most effective prison gangs in the U.S. today have the discipline, organization and intelligent leadership to pose the single greatest threat to the safe operation of the nation’s carceral institutions and the integrity of the criminal justice system.

Gangs rely on effective means of communications

In a nutshell, what makes today’s prison gangs, such as the Aryan Brotherhood and the Mexican Mafia, so effective and dangerous is that the gang itself operates in much the same way as an ant colony. Cut off one half of an ant colony from the other half and they will still communicate via pheromones, continuing to carry out the tasks that will lead towards the overall goals of the colony being met. In effect, the ant colony is not just a large number of individuals acting in concert, it is an organism in and of itself.

Likewise, prison gangs are far more dangerous than the sum of their individual parts. While a single violent criminal can be completely neutralized by locking him up behind thick walls and razor wire fences, the same cannot be said of gang leaders. Because they rule over a vast network of soldiers, many of whom are ex-convicts who currently live on the outside of prison, gang leaders can never be truly neutralized. There are always means, even under conditions of solitary confinement, that gang leaders can communicate orders to their subordinates within the gang’s power structure.

But this problem is especially acute where gang leaders have access to contraband cellular devices. Cell phones can make instant and unlimited communication with gang foot soldiers on the outside of prison a reality. In effect, this is equivalent to not having the gang leaders incarcerated at all. They are free to order whatever crimes they wish.

For this reason, curbing the number of illegal cell phones that are able to make their way into the U.S. prison system has long been a top goal of everyone working within the country’s prisons. Now, Securus Technologies, one of the nation’s leading providers of prison safety technologies, has devised a system that can all but eliminate the threat posed by contraband cellular devices.

Through its Wireless Containment System, Securus has devised a system that is able to deny all unauthorized calls within a prison’s property. The system can also aid officers in detecting any contraband cellular devices, leading to a nearly 100 percent confiscation rate of contraband cell phones within the prison.

The Quincy Losing Its Charm Due To Insecurity

The Quincy is a contemporary housing complex targeted at the middle-class and working families. It is located off Route 18 on Neilson Street in downtown New Brunswick in New Jersey. It is managed by Alliance Residential, one of the largest privately-held property management firms in the country.

Recent developments at The Quincy have cast doubts as to whether the management is being honest about the target clientele and tenants. A number of incidents have raised security concerns at the complex. Consequently, the integrity of the tenants is in question as the activities are downright criminal. It is not clear if the aggressors are tenants or visitors. It is quickly becoming synonymous with criminal activity in downtown New Brunswick.

On May 7, 2013, three adult males robbed a pizza guy inside the compound at gunpoint. They took the pizza plus the delivery guy’s personal effects including his wallet. The three men are reported to have sped off in a dark van. The suspects are known delinquents in the neighborhood and their days of running away from the law are said to be numbered.

Parish Wood, also known by multiple other aliases, was tracked to the crime scene at the time using his cell phone data. It is believed he had made a habit of robbing pizza delivery guys in the area and has already been charged.

The prevalence of mobile devices in the digital age seems to be working in favor of the law enforcement in this case. The ongoing investigation is expected to net the whole criminal gang that has been terrorizing residents and visitors at the complex.

On October 7, 2015, residents at the complex called the police with reports of gunfire. One injured victim was picked up from the parking lot and hospitalized. They lived to describe the attacker. The attacker is said to have been a male wearing a hoodie. They disappeared in the direction of Neilson Street. There were bullet shells within the compound of the apartment complex.

The complex has experienced a wave of criminal activities with the police claiming numerous incident reports have been filed related to the apartment complex. Residents are afraid of ordering pizza. They are scared of strangers. There are over two hundred apartments in the high-rise complex. The apartments are marketed as luxury rentals with a myriad of amenities and designer finishes. They are fitted with modern kitchens and bathrooms, exquisite finishes, sleek flooring, and offer scenic views.

Nathaniel Ru believes that the decisions that a person makes should not only affect the here and now, but that those decisions should live on after a person is gone. He believes that a person should do things now that will affect the world after they are no longer around to affect it. This belief has guided him when it comes to his business and the work that he does for it.

Nathaniel Ru is a graduate of Georgetown University. While he was at the school, he studied Finance. In the same year that he graduated from Georgetown University, this man worked with his friends to start his company.

Sweetgreen isn’t the kind of company that aims to become McDonald’s. The founders want their restaurant chain to stand for high quality food and local community engagement. In fact, Ru never wants to actually have any sort of corporate headquarters.

There is no hub running this entire operation, just a network of likeminded store managers that stick to Nathaniel RU’s vision. Ru says, “We wanted to decentralize our headcount” before adding, “We don’t believe in big corporate headquarters.”

Nathaniel Ru is refreshingly open about both his shortcomings and his successes with Sweetgreen. When probed on going back in time to get some advice Ru says simply, “We’ve learned it’s important to build a team around you sooner than you feel comfortable doing so.”

Ru is clear-headed and focused on the Sweetgreen experience and thus far it appears that his legions of happy customers are equally happy with the restaurant.

The Dedication of Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey towards Supporting Civil, Human, Migrants Rights Organizations in Arizona

There are a number of individuals and groups that advocate for civil, human, and migrants rights. These groups or persons give hope to the voiceless. The fight against oppression and injustices against the minority and the weak in the society is far from ending due to corruption and lack of cooperation by governments. However, these groups and individuals have not given up, and one of them is UNHCR. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was founded in 1950 after the Second World War to aid Europeans who fled from their homes during the war. The organization, which was initially to serve for only three years, has existed for more than sixty-seven years, supporting and protecting refugees all over the world.

UNHCR won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1954 for its recommendable work in Europe. It faced another emergency situation during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 as it made efforts to resettle the Hungarian refugees in Australia. By the 21st century after the decolonization of Africa, there was a refugee crisis in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

In some parts of the world, UNHCR has been strengthened by regional legal instruments. It is present in a total of one hundred and thirty countries and has over 10,966 staff members. As the organization celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2015, it had assisted more than 50 million refugees to restart their lives.

The Geneva-based Asylum of UNHCR has a team of experts who are dedicated to addressing the various challenges that are faced by the regional teams in the implementation of the refugee protection policies.

The team also has the responsibility of identifying emerging trends that affect refugees and create a protection gap. The asylum is dedicated to providing support for those who are in mixed migratory movements and to protect those who are displaced following violence and traffic offenses.

UNHCR offers a cash-based intervention program to refugees. This protects them and allows them to meet basic requirements of food, healthcare, shelter, and clothing.

As a result, refugees can build their lives in the area of relocation and facilitates voluntary repatriation. The cash-based intervention program protects refugees from the risk of not being able to maintain the capacity to spend.

Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey are the co-founders of Village Voice Media and Phoenix New Times. The two dedicated their settlement money of $3.75 million to support all migrants’ rights organizations in Arizona.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio ordered the arrest of the two journalists in the middle of the night. This happened as the grand jury proceedings sought for the notes by the reporters on articles that had information about Sheriff Joe.

The grand jury subpoenas asked for the identity of the citizens who read the online story by New Times about the sheriff. Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey prosecuted the county in defense of their first amendment rights and won the case.

The funds the two donated are meant to support groups that advocate for civil, human, and migrants rights, civic participation, and the freedom of speech in Arizona, including the Mexican border.

Jeremy Goldstein- Viability of Stock Options

In recent times, many companies are decided to eliminate stock options for their workers. The reason that these companies are giving is that they need boost their returns by saving more. However, this is not the sole reason. In fact, some of the reasons why they are doing this are not known to those affected. We will take a look at the major reasons that push companies and corporations to take this step.

The first reason is that stock options are never constant. This means that their value fluctuates depending on the economic status. In case the options go down, the stock options that employees hold also lose value.

Secondly, many employees know that they are most likely to lose value in case the returns of a company goes downhill. For this reason, many employees avoid them and prefer to have their full earnings in form of a salary.

Third and the last one, there is an intensive process involved in processing the stock options. There are many deductions that are made that at the end, the stock option will be of little benefit. Stock options expenditure may overshadow the real benefit of the stock options.

Although there are these disadvantages associated with stock options, there are other crucial benefits that may be realized from implementing them.

One, stock options are simple to understand how they work. It, therefore, becomes a crucial option for any employee.

Secondly, the value of the stock options is directly related to the value of the company’s share. If the share is valuable, the stock option will be valuable. Since employees are at the heart of the company success or failure, they cannot risk their damaging the company share value since they will also be affected. Therefore, stock options is a legitimate way of demanding more input from the employees.

The knockout barrier

The knockout barrier is the solution for any employee who wants to consider taking the stock options. Knockout barrier provides a specific value that in case the share value goes below, employees will automatically lose their stock options. Also, an employee has the liberty to withdraw the stock options in case the share vale has stagnated at one price.
